Revived INEOS Grenadiers start best season since 2018
Geraint Thomas, the new sporting director of INEOS Grenadiers, already said it after the team time trial at Paris-Nice: "We've had a few tough years, but we're on the comeback trail." Looking at the statistics, we have to agree with the British 2018 Tour winner: INEOS Grenadiers has had an excellent start to the cycling season.
Even more, the British squad is having its best season start since 2018, judging by the victories achieved so far. A dive into the CyclingFlash database shows that the win tally now stands at thirteen.
For comparison: last year around this time (late March), the team had only seven wins. And going further back, only in 2022 (with ten victories) did the squad come close to the - so far - very productive 2026. This shows that INEOS Grenadiers is on the rise again, thanks to some targeted acquisitions.
The most eye-catching signing is Dorian Godon. The French champion clearly has no adjustment problems and has already scored three wins for his new employer, including a stage in Paris-Nice and two stage victories at the Tour of Catalonia.
The other signing, Sam Welsford, sprinted to a stage win earlier this year at the Tour Down Under, and Axel Laurance (2 wins), Filippo Ganna (2 wins), Samuel Watson, Andrew August, Egan Bernal, and Brandon Rivera have all contributed as well. Furthermore, INEOS Grenadiers won the team time trial at Paris-Nice earlier this month.
Financial boost
INEOS Grenadiers is not only doing well sport-wise, but behind the scenes, they are also busy strengthening their financial position. Recently, we learned that the team has found its intended new main sponsor for the next five years; now we know which company it is. The Danish software and IT company Netcompany is joining the squad, according to The Times.
This company is reportedly bringing in about 100 million euros (20 million per year). With this financial injection, the team aims to restore its status as a superteam. Last year, the team already made initial steps by attracting TotalEnergies and signing riders Kevin Vauquelin and Oscar Onley.
