Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne keeps start and finish location for years to come
Since 2024, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne has started in Kortrijk and traditionally finishes in Kuurne, and that is expected to remain the case. The organizers of the Flemish classic have announced that Kortrijk and Kuurne will continue to serve as the start and finish locations until at least 2031.
The first edition of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne dates back to 1945. That year, a modest peloton of elevated amateurs and semi-professionals rode for the first time through the West Flemish roads around Kuurne and Brussels. Two years later, in 1947, it was decided for the first time to race from Kuurne to Brussels and back to Kuurne, making Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne a real event.
In the following years, the route, the calendar position (KBK was for a few years even the Flemish season opener, ahead of the Omloop), and the name were frequently adjusted. In 1979, the organizers decided to make a major change again. The original name was readopted, and to this day, the race is known as Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.

By the way, this gives a distorted picture since it has not been raced from Kuurne to Brussels and back to Kuurne for over fifty years. Since 2024, Kortrijk has had the honor of kicking off the riders at the race start. The finish is—as the name suggests—in Kuurne.
This is to the satisfaction of the organizers, who have decided to extend current agreements with the two towns until 2031. "Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne looks ahead," reads social media. The next edition of KBK will take place on Sunday, March 1. Then, a successor to Jasper Philipsen will be sought, who triumphed in a sprint last year.
