Oier Lazkano will no longer race for Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. In a press statement, the German WorldTeam announced that the paths between the team and the Spaniard will part ways.
"We can confirm that Lazkano is no longer part of our team. Our decision follows the UCI's provisional suspension of him. We want to make clear that this case concerns the 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons, before he joined our team," the team stated clearly.
On Thursday it was announced that the UCI has provisionally suspended Lazkano due to irregularities in his biological passport. These irregularities date back to the years 2022, 2023, and 2024. During that period, the 25-year-old Spaniard raced for Movistar. Lazkano stood out positively during several spring classics in 2024. This earned him a transfer last winter to Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, where, together with other new signings like Laurence Pithie and the van Dijke brothers, he was expected to help shape the team's classics squad.
