Surprising news from EF Education-EasyPost: team publicly seeks title sponsor
EF Education-EasyPost had big news to share on social media on Friday. The team is publicly searching for a second title sponsor alongside EF. "It is rare in professional sports, and almost unheard of in cycling, for a main sponsor of EF's caliber to commit long-term and invite an additional title partner to invest alongside," says CEO Jonathan Vaughters.
EF Pro Cycling’s public search for a second naming sponsor is aimed at staying competitive with teams like UAE Emirates XRG and Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe. The biggest teams in cycling have seen their budgets increase significantly over the past decade—and EF wants to keep up.
"Our sport has drastically changed over the last two decades," explains Vaughters. "WorldTour budgets have never risen so sharply, so we see this as an opportunity to collaborate with a partner who shares the same vision for cycling—that holds the same values as our team, so we can remain true to who we are."
The team intends to use the investment from a second title sponsor on top of the existing budget to build a winning squad for the Tour de France Femmes within three years and to compete for victory in the Tour de France within ten years—ideally with riders developed from their own academy.
