Tarteletto-Isorex extends contract with Jonah Killy, American breakaway specialist from Ghent: "I feel at home here"

Jonah Killy will also race for Tarteletto-Isorex in 2027. The American, who lives in Ghent, has extended his contract with the Belgian Continental team by one year. "For me, it was not a big decision to stay here. I really feel at home here," he said in Dutch to our camera during the Tour of Turkey.

"I definitely wanted to stay," said Killy, who brightened many Flemish races this spring. The 23-year-old rider was in the early breakaway at Danilith Nokere Koerse, the Scheldeprijs, and the Brabantse Pijl. "That makes you better. You can push yourself a bit, train a bit, and get TV exposure. What kind of rider am I? I want to be in the breakaway at all times. If it works once, it is totally worth it."

Killy has been living in Belgium for several years now. Specifically, in Ghent. "I really like it. I have been with my girlfriend for almost three years. It is great to have a family. I want to stay here. I still need to learn to speak Ghent dialect better. But then being in a West Flemish team is also difficult, that is a different language again," he laughed. "I really enjoy speaking Flemish."

Because of his performances, there has already been interest from pro teams in Killy, but the American chooses to stay longer with Tarteletto-Isorex for now. Peter Bauwens, team manager at the Continental team, is very happy about this. “With a driven young rider who keeps racing aggressively, he not only puts himself but also the team repeatedly in the spotlight. Sponsors are very happy about that,” said Bauwens in the announcement of the contract extension.
