Addy Engels is leaving Visma | Lease a Bike after ten years to take on a new challenge at Tudor Pro Cycling. At Fabian Cancellara’s Swiss ProTeam, Engels will join a well-structured squad that aims to continue developing step-by-step.
Over the past ten years, Engels has been a key figure in the sporting staff of Visma | Lease a Bike. As a directeur sportif who almost every year included the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España in his race program, he witnessed how the Dutch team progressed year after year. He was present for five overall victories in the Vuelta (3× Primož Roglič, 1× Sepp Kuss, and 1× Jonas Vingegaard) and twice when the pink jersey was claimed at the Giro d’Italia with Roglič and Simon Yates. In addition, Engels managed many logistical responsibilities.
At Tudor Pro Cycling, Engels will also have a prominent role. With riders such as Julian Alaphilippe (just last week winner of the GP Quebec), Marc Hirschi, Matteo Trentin, and Stefan Küng, the team boasts renowned champions. Additionally, three Dutch riders are under contract: Arvid de Kleijn, Maikel Zijlaard, and Rick Pluimers.
