Tony Gallopin suddenly leaves Red Bull-BORA hansgrohe

Tony Gallopin was set to join the Red Bull-BORA hansgrohe team car this season, but the former pro cyclist is no longer a directeur sportif at the German WorldTeam of Remco Evenepoel.

The now 37-year-old Gallopin left the team on his own initiative, reports Het Laatste Nieuws. It is unclear why Gallopin and Red Bull-BORA hansgrohe are parting ways already.

The son of former pro rider Alain Gallopin (also a directeur sportif) started working as a directeur sportif at Lotto after a successful racing career, where the former yellow jersey wearer in the Tour de France rode for four years (2014-2017).

Gallopin was supposed to be one of the thirteen new directeur sportifs (distributed between the WorldTeam and the U23 squad) at the ambitious German outfit.
