Vingegaard understands Paris-Nice stage had to continue: "But it was very slippery"

The seventh stage of Paris-Nice was supposed to be the queen stage, but it was shortened to just 47 kilometers. Nonetheless, GC leader Jonas Vingegaard understands that racing still had to take place. However, he found the finale to be dangerous.

"Paris-Nice is one of the biggest races on the calendar, so of course we understand that we had to race today," says the Dane on the Visma | Lease a Bike website. "We ourselves were also in favor of that. But now we finished in the snow, and it was very slippery in the last kilometers. As a result, quite a few crashes happened in the final phase. Fortunately, we were able to avoid them, and I hope everyone is okay."

"For us, it was important to stay focused while racing and cross the line safely. Hopefully, we can count on better weather conditions tomorrow and secure the overall victory."
