Visma | Lease a Bike has strengthened its roster for next year with Owain Doull. This was reported by Irish journalist Daniel Benson and sources have also confirmed it to WielerFlits. The 32-year-old Brit joins from EF Education-EasyPost.
Doull turned professional in 2017 with Team Sky, where he had already interned in 2016. He stayed with the British team (which had been renamed INEOS Grenadiers) until 2021, but switched to EF Education-EasyPost in 2022. So far in his pro career, Doull has secured two victories: a stage at the Herald Sun Tour (2019) and a stage at the Tour de la Provence (2020). However, he has mostly played a support role.
In his career, Doull has ridden five Grand Tours: twice the Giro d’Italia, twice the Vuelta a España and once the Tour de France. Additionally, he has been a consistent presence for both INEOS and EF in the spring classics. His best result in a Monument is 29th place at the 2024 Tour of Flanders. Furthermore, the Brit was runner-up in the 2019 Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne, finishing second in the sprint behind the solo winner Bob Jungels.
