Women's cyclocross is getting a top rider back starting this weekend. Annemarie Worst can finally start racing again, something the Dutchwoman has been eagerly waiting for.
"Seven Racing will field a full team for the first time this season in the X2O Trophy in Hamme on Sunday: Annemarie Worst is making her long-awaited comeback," her team announced. "Her recovery from the crash in the Simac Ladies Tour took longer than expected, but she has been looking forward to her return for weeks and is now ready to pin on a race number again."
Worst also started her cyclocross campaign late last winter due to the effects of a COVID-19 infection, but during the cross season she established herself once again as a consistent top-5 contender. However, the 29-year-old former European champion could not reach her best form with wins and podium finishes at that time. Later, she broke her hand, causing part of December and January to be disrupted.
Worst’s schedule after the Hamme cross is not yet known.
