It’s the weekend of comebacks: after Lander Loockx, Fleur Moors, and Annemarie Worst, we now also have confirmation of Marie Schreiber’s return. The Luxembourg rider will make her appearance in the X2O Trophy at Hamme on Sunday.
The under-23 vice world champion had a challenging summer. During the Tour de l'Avenir Femmes, she contracted a Covid infection, shortly followed by a bacterial respiratory infection. This led to a disappointing World Championship in Rwanda and subsequently a withdrawal from the European Championships in France.
Because of these setbacks, it took some time before Schreiber could start preparing for cyclocross again. Now, for the 22-year-old Schreiber, it’s the perfect moment to show herself back in competition, as she is targeting the World Cup, which starts next week.
Schreiber proved that she can win at the highest level just last winter in Hulst. The Luxembourger captured the World Cup race there. Back then, she still competed in the under-23 category at the World Championships; now, for the first time, she will race among the elite.
