There was no spot left at Unibet Rose Rockets, but Zeb Kyffin will still be part of the cycling peloton in 2026. The 27-year-old Brit is taking a significant step back, as he has signed with Terengganu Cycling Team, a continental cycling team from Malaysia.
Kyffin has already had a remarkable journey as a cyclist. This became clear during the recent Tour de Langkawi. After his victory in the sixth stage of the Malaysian stage race — his first professional win — he shared his life story with our camera. "Becoming a cyclist wasn't on my bingo card; I had no plan to become a pro. My father worked at Philips Design in the Netherlands, and I wanted to be a designer my whole life."
"After growing up in Eindhoven, I moved back to the United Kingdom at age 12. From 18, I attended Newcastle University to study design. If I really wanted to make good money, I had to do what I studied for. Cycling was a hobby but also something I was good at, something that gave me freedom. I could express myself through it, and I really enjoyed it. But I was just a relatively normal guy."
A career with ups and downs
"In 2020 I graduated from university and started working at Wahoo. It was during the COVID period, and in those years there weren’t many continental-level races. I barely raced for two years, until I lost my job at the end of 2022. There was a major round of layoffs at the company I worked for, and I was one of the victims. After that setback, I thought: in 2023, I’m going to give it my all for one year to maybe become a professional cyclist after all."

And so it happened, as the Brit managed to get noticed by (then) Unibet Tietema Rockets after some strong performances in Kreiz Breizh and the Tour of Britain. He signed his first pro contract with them, but due to a herniated disc, he was unable to train or race for a long time. Last season, he did complete a full road program, but it wasn’t enough to secure a contract extension.
Fortunately for Kyffin, he can continue his cycling adventure, this time riding for Terengganu Cycling Team. This year, the team featured some well-known names, including Dutchman Adne van Engelen and former WorldTour pros Stefan De Bod and Vadim Pronskiy.
