Cycling teams 2026: Can AG Insurance-Soudal repeat last year’s success?
As the 2026 cycling season gets underway, WielerFlits takes a closer look at the key teams in the peloton. In the series Cycling Teams 2026, we introduce these squads based on transfers, rosters, and goals. Today it’s AG Insurance-Soudal’s turn. What can we expect from Kim Le Court, Sarah Gigante, and Urska Zigart?
Review of 2025
Last year was a string of highlights for AG Insurance-Soudal. The team had to wait a bit for their first victory, but that win in April was more than worth the wait when Kim Le Court took Liège-Bastogne-Liège. After that, the team kicked into gear with wins at the Tour of Norway, Tour of Britain, and several national championships.
July and August were the team’s peak months. In the Giro d’Italia, Sarah Gigante finished third overall while also taking two impressive mountain stage victories. At the Tour de France Femmes, Kim Le Court wore the yellow jersey for a long stretch and won the fifth stage in Guéret.
Transfers
AG Insurance-Soudal remained relatively stable this winter. Gaia Masetti and Julia Bergström left the team, while big signing Letizia Borghesi was brought in to bolster the Flemish spring campaign.
Ambitions
- Perform in the Flemish classics with Borghesi and Bossuyt
- Score in the Walloon classics with Le Court and Ghekiere
- Win a stage + achieve a strong GC at the Vuelta with Zigart and Gigante
- Win a stage + aim for a good GC at the Giro with Zigart, Gigante, De Schepper
- Win a stage + contend for the GC at the Tour with Le Court and Gigante
Our expectations
Julian Dubbeld (WielerFlits reporter): "AG Insurance-Soudal is one of the fastest-growing teams in the women’s peloton. At the start of 2025, hardly anyone expected the team to perform so well, but a year later the Belgian squad starts the new season as one of the top teams. After their 2025 results, that is more than justified. Leading riders Kim Le Court and Sarah Gigante have proven themselves as world-class athletes, and they will be making headlines again this year."
"With Urska Zigart, Justine Ghekiere, and Lore De Schepper also on the roster, the team can target a strong GC in every Grand Tour. They will likely be even stronger this year, if the stories from the media day are anything to go by. A podium in all the Grand Tours is a realistic goal for the squad."
"The team also wants to make an impact in the Flemish spring races this year. With Shari Bossuyt back and new signing Letizia Borghesi, the squad should consistently compete for top-10 finishes in the biggest races, with chances to win semi-classics as well. Keep an eye on Lieke Nooijen for that."
