Finn Fisher-Black defends New Zealand time trial title

Finn Fisher-Black can still call himself New Zealand’s time trial champion for another year. The 24-year-old rider successfully defended his title, delivering Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe their fifth victory of 2026.

Fisher-Black had no trouble with the competition, finishing more than a minute ahead of the day’s surprise: the unknown Glenn Haden. This 42-year-old races for the club team Couplands-Cycling Tom Racing Team. Ben Oliver of Modern Aventure Pro Cycling (the team founded by George Hincapie) took third place, a full two minutes behind Fisher-Black.

This is the second time Fisher-Black has claimed the New Zealand time trial title. Last year he beat Aaron Gate and Tom Sexton. Gate did not participate this year, and Sexton only managed fifth place this time around.

Notably, Hayden Wilde, one of the world’s best triathletes, also competed and just missed out on a medal. The Paris Olympic silver medalist fell short by only four seconds from the podium.

Wyllie wins in the women’s category
In the elite women’s race, the title went to Ella Wyllie. The 23-year-old, in her third season with Liv AlUla Jayco, edged out Mikayla Harvey (SD Worx-Protime) for silver. After 27 kilometers, the gap between the two was just under half a minute. Wyllie succeeds Kim Cadzow on the honors list.
