Don’t look for Alexander Krieger in the cycling peloton in 2026. The 33-year-old German announced his retirement on Tuesday. Krieger rode for Tudor Pro Cycling over the past two seasons, but he is best known for his time at Alpecin-Deceuninck.
Krieger spent four seasons (from 2020 through 2023) with the Belgian squad run by brothers Philip and Christoph Roodhooft, racing alongside the likes of Mathieu van der Poel and Jasper Philipsen. The German — who never secured a professional win in his career — experienced many successes supporting these top riders.
The reliable domestique participated in seven Grand Tours over the years. Krieger lined up at the start of the Giro d'Italia in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, took part in his first and only Tour de France in 2022, and had his baptism of fire in the Vuelta a España in 2021.
From rider to team director
While Krieger is retiring from racing, he is certainly not leaving the cycling world. In 2026, he will take on the role of team director at Tudor, his last professional team as a rider. He will begin as a sports director with the development team and will oversee promising talents such as Jan Huber (U23 vice world champion) and Seppe Van Den Boer next year.
