HEAD Group acquires cycling apparel brand Le Col

The sporting goods manufacturer HEAD Group has acquired the London-based cycling apparel brand Le Col from Puma Growth Partners. This investment firm has invested approximately £14.4 million in the brand since 2018. The purchase price for the acquisition has not been disclosed.

Le Col was founded in 2011 by former professional cyclist Yanto Barker and has developed over the years into an internationally recognized brand in cycling apparel. The company is based in London and emerged from Barker’s experience in the pro peloton, where he noticed that much cycling clothing could be improved in terms of performance and comfort.

Notable collaborations
Le Col has gained recognition in the cycling world through partnerships with pro teams and well-known riders. It has supplied clothing to teams including BORA-hansgrohe, Bahrain-McLaren, and the British project Team Wiggins.

HEAD Group is primarily known for brands and products in winter sports, racket sports, and water sports. According to HEAD, the acquisition of Le Col fits within their strategy to further expand in the sports apparel sector.

The managing director of Puma Growth Partners responded to the sale: "We’re pleased to have sold Le Col to such a strong party. We believe that HEAD will be an excellent owner for the further development of the brand."
