INEOS Grenadiers has experienced some turbulent and, from a sporting perspective, less successful years, but the British team seems to be bouncing back. At least, for the first time since 2017, the team has managed to win a stage in all three Grand Tours (Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España).
In the recent Giro d'Italia, Joshua Tarling won the first individual time trial after a photo finish with Primoz Roglic, while Thymen Arensman shone in the Tour de France with stage victories in the Pyrenees (stage to Luchon-Superbagnères) and the Alps (La Plagne). Ben Turner joined this list on Tuesday by sprinting to victory in the fourth stage of the Vuelta.
For the last 'seasonal trilogy' of stage wins in the three Grand Tours, we have to go back to 2017, when the then Team Sky still dominated the stage race scene with style. That year, Mikel Landa (in the Giro), Geraint Thomas (Tour), and Chris Froome (Vuelta) secured the victories.
In the following seasons, the once-star-studded team sometimes searched in vain for a stage win, with 2019 as a low point. That year, the team did not manage to claim a single stage win in any Grand Tour, although Egan Bernal did win the Tour de France that year - as the first Colombian.
