Jan-Willem van Schip has been disqualified from the NIBC Tour of Holland. The Parkhotel Valkenburg rider was still on the attack on Wednesday, but has now been removed from the race by the jury. The reason: a bike that does not comply with UCI regulations.
What exactly does not comply is not specified in the jury report. Additionally, team director Chris de Jonge has been fined 500 Swiss francs for the same reason.
According to WielerFlits, Van Schip’s seatpost is the reason the jury pulled him from the NIBC Tour of Holland. How the Schalkwijk rider’s seatpost was set up in the Tour of Holland is unknown. Three weeks ago, Van Schip rode the Arno Wallaard Memorial with a distinctive seatpost.
In recent months, Van Schip made his comeback to the peloton after a difficult period. The 31-year-old rider quickly achieved notable results. He won the Ronde van Midden-Brabant at the end of September and finished third in the Arno Wallaard Memorial.
