Most road cyclists are currently enjoying a well-deserved holiday, but some riders are still competing in races during their exotic trips. Several top names took part in the EFGH Singapore Criterium on Sunday. The victory went - after an exciting finale and sprint - to Jonathan Milan.
The road season has been over for a few weeks now, but that doesn’t mean road racers have stopped competing altogether. On Sunday in Singapore, many notable riders lined up at the start of a criterium organized by ASO. This event has been known since this year as the EFGH Singapore Criterium.
With Jonathan Milan, Jasper Philipsen, Biniam Girmay, Jordi Meeus, Primoz Roglic, and Ben Healy, a strong lineup of top riders was present for the criterium. Despite several attacks during the race, aiming to surprise the fast men, it came down to a sprint to decide the winner.

With Milan, Philipsen, Girmay, and Meeus, all the top sprinters were well-placed at the front. Among these contenders, Philipsen had the best lead-out, although Alpecin-Deceuninck’s designated finisher started his sprint a little too early in the final hundred meters. The Belgian launched the sprint first but was clearly overtaken by Girmay and Milan.
The Italian—who, as the winner of the points classification from the recent Tour de France, was riding in the green jersey—managed to cross the line first. Girmay had to settle for the most thankless podium spot, with Philipsen finishing third. The latter stood on the final podium twice, as he secured the points classification along the way.
