Juan Ayuso presented his 2026 program on Friday afternoon during Lidl-Trek’s media day. The 23-year-old Spaniard will be thrown straight into the deep end in his first year with the German team: Ayuso will lead as team captain at the Tour de France and aims for a podium finish.
"Realistically, in 2026 there is still a gap between me and Tadej Pogacar," the Spaniard says. "So we’re aiming for the podium, although we don’t yet know if that is a realistic goal."
Ayuso will focus on just one Grand Tour. At Lidl-Trek, he will also race several stage races and has chosen to start in La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The Spaniard will begin his season in the Algarve, followed by Paris-Nice and the Tour of the Basque Country. The Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (formerly the Dauphiné) will be his final preparation race for the Tour de France.
The program after the Tour is yet to be announced.
