Lucinda Brand is currently dominating women’s cyclocross, as the Baloise Glowi Lions rider once again demonstrated with a resounding victory in the World Cup in Namur on Sunday. She hopes to continue this winning streak in the Christmas and New Year's period, but her focus is not solely on the upcoming races.
Lucinda Brand may be 36 years old now, but the Dutch rider seems to be enjoying a third youth this season. She has certainly been commanding the races in recent weeks. Her win count for the 2025-2026 season has already reached ten: no other cyclocross rider has done better.
At the Citadelcross in Namur, Brand once again proved to be in a class of her own, but does she feel ready for the busy holiday season? "You could see today (Sunday, ed.) that I’m in great shape," she told the WielerFlits camera after the race. "I felt really good. You don’t often have a day like that in your career."
Is the frequent winner from Baloise Glowi Lions focusing on any specific classification in the coming weeks? "No, I have mapped out a number of races," she immediately said. "I want to ride them very well and fight for the victory."
Training towards the World Championships
However, Brand is not only focused on the short term and winning as many races as possible. In the new year, an important appointment awaits with the World Championships in Hulst. She also doesn’t want to come out of the Christmas period completely drained. "The main goal is that after the Christmas period you can still train a bit in January, heading towards the World Championships," concludes the queen of victories.
