Belgian cyclocross champion Marion Norbert Riberolle will have to miss the next three races—in Niel, Merksplas, and Hamme. The Crelan-Corendon rider was involved in a collision with a car during training on Sunday.
She suffered a deep cut on her left buttock, which was closed using staples. Her recovery is progressing well, but she is taking the necessary rest. "A new evaluation will take place next Monday to determine when she can resume competing," her team announced in a press release.
Norbert Riberolle will definitely have to skip the upcoming cyclocross events in Niel (Superprestige), Merksplas (Superprestige), and Hamme (X2O Badkamers Trofee).
Very bad news for Superprestige
This is a bitter pill for the Belgian to swallow: she is currently well positioned in the Superprestige standings. Norbert Riberolle is the provisional third in the rankings, four points behind Italian Sara Casasola, but with two DNS results, she will drop significantly.
