Mathieu van der Poel adds Benidorm World Cup to schedule

Mathieu van der Poel will be seen on Sunday at the Benidorm World Cup cyclocross race. The Spanish race was initially not on his program, but the world champion has decided to start after all, according to his team Alpecin-Premier Tech.

"After a strong training week, the urge to race was simply too great. Our world champion will defend his leader's jersey in the World Cup," said Van der Poel's team on Instagram. Van der Poel will compete against, among others, Thibau Nys and teammate and compatriot Tibor Del Grosso.
