Now that's a selfie! Matthew Brennan photographed with top tennis player Carlos Alcaraz

Matthew Brennan is rapidly developing as a road cyclist, but at Melbourne airport, he posed for a photo with someone who is a bit more well-known. The Visma | Lease a Bike rider shared a selfie on his social media channels with none other than Carlos Alcaraz.

The Spanish tennis star made history last Sunday by winning the Australian Open for the first time in his young but already illustrious career. He defeated tennis legend Novak Djokovic in the final, who was himself chasing a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.

With this victory, Alcaraz became the youngest tennis player (22 years and 258 days) ever to win all four Grand Slam tournaments, having previously claimed Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Alcaraz was already spotted at Melbourne airport on Monday preparing for his return to Europe and ran into Matthew Brennan there. The latter didn’t hesitate for a moment and took a photo with the tennis sensation. "Not a bad neighbor to fly back with," the Brit wrote on Instagram.

"Hopefully the luggage racks can handle the extra weight," his team Visma | Lease a Bike joked alongside the selfie, referring to the trophies of the two. Brennan had, after all, just won a stage at the Tour Down Under last week.
