Peter Schep has been active as Performance Manager at EF Education-EasyPost since 2018, but he is no longer working with the American team. The 48-year-old former cyclist has made the move to INEOS Grenadiers.
Schep will take on the role of 'Performance Data Manager' at the British team. "After more than fifteen years as a successful track cyclist, Peter's second career off the bike is just as impressive. With a background in mechanical engineering, Peter has gained experience as a trainer and coach, including with the Dutch cycling federation and more recently EF Education-EasyPost," reads the statement on the INEOS Grenadiers website.
The Dutchman was particularly successful as a track cyclist. He competed in four Olympic Games – in 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008 – became the first Dutch cyclist to win a world championship in the points race in 2006, earned five more World Championship medals, and also won multiple six-day races.
From national coach to performance manager
After his cycling career, he also celebrated considerable success as the national coach of the track cyclists. In October 2018, Schep decided to step down as national coach and started as performance manager/Head of Performance at EF Education-EasyPost. At this team, Schep had a broad range of responsibilities: he was also coach of a specific group of riders and the team relied heavily on Schep’s expertise in time trialing.

Schep is still involved in track cycling. As race director (together with Michael Zijlaard), he is a key figure in the organization of the WielerZesdaagse Rotterdam. As race leader, he is responsible among other things for the organization and assembling a strong field of participants.
