Telenet Superprestige adds Halloween, Sinterklaas, and Christmas races next year

The Telenet Superprestige will again consist of eight races next cyclocross season (2026-2027), but the calendar will undergo some notable changes. The organization refers to it as a 'special year' in a press release. Riders can look forward to a Halloweencross, Sinterklaascross, and a Christmascross next season.

Today, the UCI announced the international cyclocross calendar for the winter of 2026-2027. Eight races will be part of the Telenet Superprestige next winter. The opening round on the program is Overijse on October 25. The 'Mother of all Crosses' will kick off the new classification, in other words.

"That means we start a week later than last winter," explains Chris Mannaerts, Head of Cyclocross at Flanders Classics. "New is Middelkerke on November 5. Due to the World Championships in Ostend, the traditional February date moves to November. It will be an evening race with a Halloween theme, right in the autumn holiday."

And that’s not the only change. "Ruddervoorde, which has opened the season for several years, moves next winter to December 6 and takes the freed-up date. This ensures a nice spread in the Superprestige calendar."

The traditional date of November 11 remains for the Jaarmarktcross in Niel, and Merksplas will again take place during the same weekend as previous editions. In December, there’s another change. "Heusden-Zolder will host a race on Christmas Day for the first time, which is quite a special change in this calendar. Diegem maintains its spot as an evening race during the Christmas period, and Gullegem will be the final round on January 2."
