Stage 4 Durbuy - Durbuy (173.4km)

The organizers are largely sticking to the Ardennes stage used in the past three editions, and for that, we head to Durbuy—Marc Coucke territory, but more notably in the spotlight in 2021 due to the devastating floods. Since then, the town has been focusing on positive exposure by hosting both this race and the Ethias Tour de Wallonie.

There’s absolutely no such thing as a flat run-in. Right from the start, the riders are sent into a local circuit of 44 kilometers, featuring no fewer than six challenging climbs. The Champs des Hêtres (2.1 km at 2.7%) and the Côte de Petit Somme (2.2 km at 5.8%) come relatively early in the loop. After about ten kilometers of relative calm, the Rue du Bout (2.4 km at 3.4%) awaits.

The real action kicks off on the Côte de Hermanne (2.2 km at 5.8%), located roughly thirteen kilometers from the finish. Just after that climb, the decisive Golden Kilometer takes place. And of course, there’s still the infamous Mur de Durbuy (1.2 km at 6.2%), with its steepest ramps just one kilometer from the line. Whoever conquers that wall is likely to be the overall winner of the Baloise Belgium Tour.
