Stage 2 Blankenberge - Ardooie (169.4km)
From the Dutch coast, the second day of the Renewi Tour heads to the Belgian coastal town of Blankenberge. From there, the peloton tackles a stage that has become something of a classic in the Renewi Tour. The finish in Ardooie, with its chicane just over a kilometer from the line and a straight dash to the sprint immediately after, is now a staple of the course.
Once again, the fast men can prepare for a showdown after a full day on flat roads. Just over a year ago, it was Jonathan Milan — winner of the green jersey in the most recent Tour de France — who took the stage victory. But before the sprint in Ardooie, the riders still have to complete four local circuits of sixteen kilometers each through Ardooie and its surrounding municipalities.
