The zero has been erased from the tables for Michael Vanthourenhout. He secured his first victory of the 2025-2026 cyclocross season in Switzerland. The leader of Pauwels Sauzen-Altez Industriebouw outpaced Kevin Kuhn and Jente Michels at the International Cyclocross of Steinmaur.
The 31-year-old Vanthourenhout was actually scheduled to start his winter season at the Radcross Illnau in Switzerland at the end of September, but he did not start there. At the Exact Cross Meulebeke last week, he finished third behind Joran Wyseure and Laurens Sweeck, but this time Vanthourenhout made it to the top.
He crossed the line 8 seconds ahead of Kuhn and 12 seconds ahead of Michels. Just behind them, Gerben Kuypers narrowly missed the podium.
Julie Brouwers added further Belgian success in Steinmaur by winning the women's race. She defeated local rider Rebekka Estermann and the French rider Electra Gallazot.
More Belgian success followed on Sunday with Victor Van De Putte winning the Grand Prix Pilsen in the Czech Republic. In Sweden, the second day of the Fristads CX took place in Täby, where Clément Horny claimed victory in the men's race and Alicia Franck won the women's.
