Stage 13 Agen - Pau (165.3km)

Transition stage towards the Pyrenees

The thirteenth stage of the Tour de France, fortunately not coinciding with the superstition of the thirteenth, takes the procession from Agen to Pau. It's difficult to predict beforehand who will have the best chance at victory after 171 kilometers. Pure sprinters, strong fast men, or perhaps a breakaway? In Pau, they all have a chance.

In Agen, the riders embark on the transition stage towards the Pyrenees. The prospect of climbing might turn many riders sour, but that's unlikely in Agen. The city on the Garonne River is renowned for its plums, sold worldwide. This marks the fifth time Agen has been included in the Tour.

This number pales in comparison to Pau's appearances in La Grande Boucle. Pau has been a starting location a staggering 66 times. It has also served as the finish line 62 times. After Paris and Bordeaux, Pau ranks third in terms of how frequently it has been included in the Tour route. In 2024, the winner in Pau could join the ranks of René Vietto, Fausto Coppi, Robbie McEwen, and Arnaud Démare.
