Stage 3 La Gacilly - Angers (163.5km)
On Monday, the sprinters finally get their chance in the Tour de France Femmes 2025. After two hilly stages, the third stage is tailor-made for fast women like Charlotte Kool, Lorena Wiebes, Elisa Balsamo, and Marianne Vos. The nearly 163-kilometer route includes just over 1000 meters of elevation and is almost flat – perfect for a bunch sprint in the vibrant city of Angers. The stage starts in the flowery town of La Gacilly, in the Breton department of Morbihan, after which the peloton heads east towards the Loire region.
Brittany is left behind and the riders pass through places including Châteaubriant, known for its medieval castle. The highest point of the day is only 108 meters and is reached on the Côte de Richardière (1.7 km at 4.7%), where some mountain points are on offer after 34 kilometers. The finish in Angers provides a beautiful setting for a royal sprint. This location, famous for the imposing Château d’Angers and the centuries-old Apocalypse Tapestry, is also a lively university city at the edge of the Loire Valley. Although the winner won’t receive local wine today, champagne awaits – along with a prestigious stage victory.
