With the cyclocross race in Heusden-Zolder, five rounds of the Superprestige have now been raced, but the tension is still palpable. In the men's competition, there is a two-way battle for the overall victory, while in the women's field, three riders are still in contention. WielerFlits lays out the gaps.
Before the Heusden-Zolder cross, Inge van der Heijden was still the sole leader in the Superprestige, but the European champion now has a fellow countrywoman alongside her. Aniek van Alphen fell short of the day win but did well with her third place. She now has 62 points, just like Van der Heijden, and can be called co-leader in the consistency classification.
However, the biggest winner is truly Amandine Fouquenet. With her first victory in a classification race, the Frenchwoman also strengthens her candidacy to win the Superprestige. Fouquenet now stands at 61 points and is clearly lurking close behind.

In the men’s category, we also seem headed for a thrilling conclusion to the Superprestige overall battle. Joris Nieuwenhuis appears to have dropped out after his abandonment in Heusden-Zolder, but Niels Vandeputte certainly cannot count himself safe yet.
Michael Vanthourenhout took third in Zolder and is chipping away at his deficit. In fact, the difference between the two Belgians is now just one point in Vandeputte’s favor.
