Stage 10 Lucca - Pisa (28.6km)

The day after the second rest day, the riders can take their time trial bikes out of the stable again, because now there's a second - and by the way the last individual time trial on the program, between Lucca and Pisa. After the 13.7 kilometers against the clock on day two, now comes an additional 28.6 kilometers. That keeps the number of time trial kilometers in this Giro d'Italia limited.

The Renaissance city of Lucca forms the beautiful backdrop for the start of the time trial. The defensive wall around the historic center, four kilometers long, is still intact and will provide beautiful images, as the riders will cover the entire city wall in the initial phase.

The organization describes the round as a very fast time trial, which is mainly ridden in a southwestern direction. The route is roughly the same as the time trial in the 1977 Giro that was won by Norwegian Knut Knudsen.

Along the way there are few height differences, but towards the Foto di San Guilano tunnel, the road does rise significantly halfway, to then flatten out again towards San Guilano Terme. Via the Aqueduct of Pisa, the riders enter the famous city.

And indeed, the streets of the well-known finish town also get their 'moment de gloire'. The arrival in Pisa is namely located near the famous leaning tower on the Piazza dei Miracoli. There the riders will know their definitive final time, after they had already received an intermediate time earlier after 8.4 and 20.5 kilometers.
