Stage 15 A Veiga - Monforte de Lemos (167.8km)
After two brutal mountain stages, the fifteenth stage — coming the day before the rest day — might look like an easy ride, but it is anything but. The 168-kilometer route from Vegadeo to Monforte de Lemos still packs in 3,300 meters of elevation gain, though most of the climbing is concentrated in the first sixty kilometers.
Right after the start, the riders face the Puerto A Garganta (17.6 km at 4.9%), quickly followed by the Alto de Barbeitos (11.8 km at 3.8%). After cresting the latter, the course continues to roll for another fifty kilometers before flattening out almost entirely from Castroverde onwards — aside from a short 10-kilometer rise.
In Monforte de Lemos, the stage winner is likely to come from either a strong sprinter or a successful breakaway.
