Stage 16 Poio - Mos. Castro de Herville (167.9km)
A new day, another summit finish in this Vuelta. It will be the ninth time in this edition that the stage ends atop a climb. On Tuesday, the riders cover 172 kilometers from Poio on Spain’s western coast to the Alto Castro de Herville (8.7 km at 5.1%) in Galicia.
It’s a stage that is rarely flat. Along the way, there are four categorized climbs, some tougher than others. The first, the Alto de San Antonino (9 km at 4%), only appears halfway through, though the riders will already have faced several ascents before that. Shortly after comes the Alto de Groba (11.5 km at 5.4%). From there, the finale truly begins, kicking off with the Alto de Prado (5.6 km at 6.2%), before the decisive climb to the Alto Castro de Herville brings the stage to a close.

The stage was shortened by 8 kilometers due to protests on the final climb.
