Stage 18 Valladolid - Valladolid (12.2km)

The second individual time trial of the Vuelta takes place on the final Thursday. In Valladolid, the riders will face an almost completely flat 26-kilometer course. The route is practically a copy-paste of the time trial held here two years ago, when Filippo Ganna managed to beat Remco Evenepoel.

The course winds south through the suburbs and past the Real Valladolid football stadium, before heading back to the city center via the Parquesol district. The first ten kilometers are fairly technical, with plenty of corners and a short 700-meter climb, but the final twelve kilometers are straightforward and fast all the way to the line. It’s a stage for the pure specialists against the clock. Maybe one for Daan Hoole?
